CBD (Cannabidiol) is a cannabinoid, meaning it’s one of the 60 compounds found specifically in the Cannabis plant. To put it simply, CBD is the component of the Cannabis plant which offers ample medicinal value, having the potential to revolutionize today’s medicines.
CBD is NOT Psychoactive!
A commonly known component of the Cannabis plant is CBD’s “psycho cousin”, THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol). THC is an illegal Psychoactive substance, which means it produces mind-altering effects. CBD, although it is a cannabinoid from the same plant, is in no way psychoactive, and is legal (almost) everywhere.
Where does it come from?
CBD can come from two plants: Hemp and Cannabis. CBD derived from the Cannabis plant will be more potent and rich in quality, making it a preferred choice over hemp. Unfortunately, though, the CBD from Cannabis has too much THC in it for many states. In states where Medicinal THC isn’t legal, such as South Carolina, there is a legal “amount of THC” your product can have. Many states have restrictions set to <1% THC, some as low as .3%. In these states, Hemp is the only way to produce and distribute CBD. Some states, such as Delaware, have higher allowed percentages, reaching as high as 5%, allowing CBD derived from the higher quality Cannabis plant to be distributed and used.
What does CBD do?
Even with what little research has yet gone into CBD, it is already arguably a potential “game-changer” for today’s modern medicine. CBD has reportedly been help with many kinds of ailments, including: Body Pain & Aches, Nicotine/Drug withdrawals, Epilepsy, neurological disorders, anxiety, cancer, diabetes, Acne, and more. CBD’s medicinal values are not by any means limited to this list. There are many, many ways that CBD can help you!
